Update: July 30th 2009

Hello all has been a long time since my last update, have started a pectus excavatum blog at www.pectuslist.com/home or you click this link , The blog goes through basic experiences of people with pectus excavatum aswell as in a couple weeks how I made a quick easy homemade vest/corset to help bring in my flared ribs.

And regarding the doctor lists will be adding 2-3 more doctors very soon

Just a quick update have added some doctors to the Pectus Doctor List and have also uploaded a good Yoga for pectus excavatum PDF.

New Cleaner looking Website

Hello all and welcome to the new layout for pectuslist.com , not so sure about the colors and style but the main aim was to clean it up and make the links easier to find and get the information you want. The pectus doctor list page is still in the proccess of being updated as its still quite messy so hang in there.

Getting The Surgery & Insurance

To help support your decision to get the surgery the main things apart from a basic GP/Doctor referrel you need are 

1- CT Scan of the chest / chest wall
2- Echocardiogram
3- Pulmonary function studies
4- detailed note from your family physician on any significant past medical problems including your cardiac, respiratory and genetic history.

All the articles on the left are articles I've written due to requests I've been getting by email and I've tried to cover most of the topics regarding pectus excavatum , including a basic introduction , exercises to improve your pectus excavatum and isurance & surgery tips. The next article I will be writing will be about the vacuum bell p.e correction device and my experiences using them.

Pectus excavatum downloads

The most important download for anyone considering the surgery is the nuss surgery brochure. I recieved this from a nuss surgeon and it goes into detail about the nuss surgery.  

The other popular download is the pectus excavatum correction exercises & routines pdf file it has a detailed and thourougly explained exercises that you can try to improve the appearance of your pectus excavatum without resorting to surgery.

If you cant download a file for any reason its probably due to my bandwidth being exceeded , I apologise for this when I can afford it I will buy some decent web hosting.
